Blyde River Canyon - I am on Instagram @ ThatChrisWessels

Up to today I have only ever shared commissioned work that I do, and not as frequent as I should.

I am going to attempt to change that :-)

From this post, I will share what I do in my free time as often as I can.

The images below where taken on a recent family trip, with my Wife Jolandie 

and our two kids, in the most beautiful area of the Blyde River Canyon,

situated in the Mapumalanga region in South Africa.

The scenery is filled with beautiful views and viewpoints 

offering landscapes upon landscapes, rivers and mountain ranges 

for as far as the eye can see.

The first image below is of an abandoned church near the village of Moremela 

near the Blyde river canyon at Dusk.

The next image was taken at a view point overlooking the Blyde River canyon 

which runs parallel to the left and right between the rock formations.

This area is soothing to the soul and the tranquility and absolute breathtaking beauty 

is sure to leave you in love with this region.

I did this shoot for PWC a few months back where we went all over South Africa to various locations and industries to photograph actual PWC staff in locations and at clients that they are involved in. This is but a small selection of the results of the trip. These images are utilized for marketing and internal usages.

Castle Milk Stout Ultra Smooth - shot for Corporate Image - Photographed and retouched by Chris Wessels Photography

This is a very recent shoot I did which is being used as a guide to drinking the new Castle Milk Stout Ultra Smooth. Chill, Hard Pour, Settle and enjoy. Shooting pouring shots are technically challenging and requires a great deal of patience. I had fun with this, but also have Sarah of Corporate image to thank for creating this opportunity. Also a great big thanks to my new friend Ayanda from Liquidchefs

for your assistance in making this a success.

This is a campaign shoot recently completed for The Red Phone for their client, AECI. The Campaign, Above and Beyond, which shows AECI employees going above and beyond their call of duty to ensure that the products they create are of the highest quality and standard. What I loved most about this project was the diversity of it, being in so many different locations and meeting some really fascinating and amazing people and looking into a few moments of their lives and what they do as professionals.
I will add some of the designers artwork here soon to preview the final output of this project. Here are some of the original pictures.

We met Suresh last week at the Constitutional Court, Constitution Hill, in Braamfontein for a 45 min shoot. It is not often that a CEO will take time off his busy schedule to accommodate a photographer and his creative ideas, but Suresh Kana is a great example of true leadership and a compassionate and understanding human being. It's always a pleasure to be in his presence and I feel the effort was well rewarded with great images. Here are a few of the mornings shoot.

Had been given the privilege today to meet and photograph radio personality, John Robbie from 702, thanks to a good friend and fellow photographer, Des Ingham Brown. I had a 45min session with him. He is a very passionate man and highly intellectual, I listen to his morning show more often than not and must admit, I am a huge fan. At the end of the session when we said our goodbye's he had this to say, "I don't mean to piss in your pocket, but that was the most relaxed photo shoot I have ever had" BIG complement coming from him, if you know him.
